My dear friends, have you ever tried tying your shoes with one hand? It’s a lot like trying to win a three-legged race on your own—you turn in circles, end up tripping over yourself, and if you’re anything like me, wind up laughing at how hard we make the simple things. Truth is, there’s a bit of heaven in remembering that life (and faith!) works best when we do it together.

Jesus reminds us in Matthew 18:18-19:
“Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.”

Isn’t that a glorious promise? Jesus didn’t toss us a puzzle or lock us out with riddles—He handed us a key. A key to throw open heaven’s doors, slam the gate on trouble, and be part of something bigger than our own bootstraps and broken shoelaces.

Remember, when Jesus spoke these words, it wasn’t handpicked kings and scholars listening—it was fishermen, tax men, and everyday folks like you and me, maybe even your neighbor with the wild lawn. He gave them real spiritual authority, not because they never made a mistake, but because they trusted Him and stood together.

Here’s the simple truth: If you know Jesus, you’ve got that authority. God listens when you pray. Find a true friend to pray with, and the angels will dance. You don’t need to drag life’s burdens alone. There’s real power, big promises, and even a little holy mischief when hearts unite in prayer.

Someone wise once said, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” Well, I vote for far—right to heaven and back if that’s what it takes, hauling down blessings and pushing up burdens along the way. You can, too.

Let me confess: once I tried fixing a leaky faucet on my own. It turned into a comedy—more water on the floor than in the pipe! My Grandma Mary just smiled and said, “Roy, God invented plumbers for a reason.” Funny, years down the road, I became a darn good handyman myself. Made a living at it, didn’t pay rent, or for power or cable a long spell. Life spins you around but always reminds you nobody can do everything alone, even if you’re right good at some things.

That’s why God made prayer partners—so don’t be shy about asking help, from Him or from each other.

So let’s take Jesus at His word. Pray big. Grab your spouse, your neighbor, or even Aunt Millie, and say, “Let’s pray together.” You’ll be knotting ropes in heaven no trouble can untangle and loosing blessing here below that no storm can wash away.

God isn’t far, isn’t deaf. He’s closer than your heartbeat, waiting for two or more to agree and call out His name.

Now, what do you need bound up today? What burden needs letting go? Don’t do it alone! Find someone—pray, laugh, maybe cry a little—and just watch God move.

And if you’re wondering about worshipping Satan versus walking with the Lord, I say this: Some folks put more energy into fearing the devil than trusting God. I knew a woman stubborn and angry, always certain her way was right. Everything I warned her about came true because she wouldn’t listen. Sometimes, facts matter more than pride. My way—God’s way—is better.

With love, joy, and a tip of the brim,

“Don’t fight your spiritual battles alone. Find someone to pray with you. The gates of heaven swing wide on the hinges of agreement.”
